The report quoted Fadi Temim, coordinator of the Consumer Protection and Guidance Association of Algeria, as saying that the biggest concern for such vehicles at the moment is not the purchase of the car itself, but the subsequentmaintenance and supply of parts. "The real problem is not today, but inthe next few years." He reminded that most of the models currently in circulation are newer models, and there is not much stress on failure in the short term, but there is always a day when the car enters the maintenance and replacement cycle. Tamim pointed out that in 2025 and 2026, the structure of models on Algeria's roads has changed significantly. This change shows that the market is shifting from "scarcity driven" to "price driven", but the service side has not kept up. In particular, some new technology configurations, such as automatic transmissions, have begun to enter the market, but the local maintenance system still relies more on traditional experience, and technical matching and worker proficiency cannot keep up. Because of this, Tamim called for the "intermediary" link to be included in the legal framework as soon as possible. According to him, these intermediaries actually fill the market gap and can help consumers save the trouble of overseas purchasing, formalities and transportation coordination. Especially when buying cars from China, the price advantage is more obvious. But the problem is that there is currently no clear rules onwho will guarantee the parts, who will undertake after-sales sales, and who will restrict the delivery process. If the intermediary industry can be regulated and required to provide basic parts and after-sales support, the market will be more stable and consumer rights will be more protected.
Algeria automotive media person Nabil Mughayrf shares similar views. In an interview with "ا لعربي ا ل ع ر ب ي ا ل ا ل و ل ا ل"Some buyers know the risks, but when it's really their turn to repair cars and find parts, they find that the trouble is bigger than they imagined." he said.
Mugef believes that the market has actually begun to adjust itself. He emphasized that instead of leaving this industry in a "gray area" for a long time, it is better to establish formal rules as soon as possible to recognize the practical value of intermediary services and require them to bear corresponding responsibilities.
What's more noteworthy is that the car buying process itself is not easy. Mugoff mentioned that some intermediaries require customers to pay in full before arranging for car purchase and transportation, which actually puts consumers on a considerable credit risk. Even if a contract is signed, if the other party is not reliable enough, the contract may not truly protect the buyer. In addition, the shipping chain is affected by global logistics fluctuations, and the delivery cycle is often lengthened to 2 months, 6 months or even longer, making the entire transaction chain more fragile.
