Summary: Sudan expands car tariff preferences: hybrid cars are officially included in tax cuts

According to an announcement issued by the Sudanese Customs Force, the Sudanese Ministry of Finance has approved the formal inclusion ofhybrid vehicles(Hybrid) in the scope of preferential tariff policies. This means that on the basis of previously encouraging theimport of pure electric vehicles, hybrid vehicles have also begun to enjoy tax support. The policy goal is to reduce fuel consumption and promote the popularization of energy-saving and environmentally friendly transportation vehicles.

The announcement showed that the adjustment was proposed by the Sudan General Administration of Customs and approved by Finance Minister Gibril Ibrahim. According to the new policy, pure electric vehicles will continue to implement an import tariff of10%and cancel the previously imposed surcharge; hybrid vehicles will cancel the original surcharge of 30% to 40%, and only need to payimport tariffs and value-added tax. This means that the comprehensive import tax burden on hybrid cars will be significantly reduced, and the import cost is expected to be further reduced.
