According to the latest statistics from the State Customs Administration of Ukraine and reported by local media Dengi.ua, in the first half of 2026, Ukraine importedmore than 169,000 passenger cars, with a total value of nearly 96.6 billion hryvnia (about 2.3 billion US dollars). Among them,more than 70% of imported vehicles are used cars, indicating that used cars are still the most important supplementary source for the Ukraine automobile market.

Data shows that in the first six months of this year, used cars not only accounted for the main import force, but also became an important source of customs revenue. Imports of used cars contribute approximately 17.7 billion hryvnia in customs revenue to Ukraine's finance, while new cars contribute approximately 14.4 billion hryvnia. The entire passenger car import business generated a total of 32.1 billion hryvnia in tax revenue.

In terms of power types, Ukraine consumers still prefertraditional fuel models. Gasoline vehicles accounted for 54.5% of all imports, continuing to remain first; diesel vehicles accounted for 20.3%; pure electric vehicles and hybrid vehicles accounted for 13% and 12.1% respectively. Although the proportion of new energy vehicles continues to increase, fuel vehicles are still the main body of the import market.

It is worth noting that the average import prices of different power types differ significantly. The average import price of hybrid cars is the highest, close to US$27,000; diesel vehicles are about US$16,000;pure electric vehicles are about US$10,000; and gasoline vehicles are about US$9000. However, due to the dominant number of imports, gasoline vehicles still contribute the highest tax revenue, totaling more than 14.6 billion hryvnia, and diesel vehicles, hybrid cars and pure electric vehicles contribute about 8.4 billion, 7.1 billion and 2 billion hryvnia respectively.

From the perspective of source countries,the United States continues to remain the largest source of automobile imports to Ukraine. In the first half of this year, Ukraine imported 73,200 vehicles from the United States, accounting for 43% of total imports;Germany ranked second with 17,300 vehicles, accounting for 10%; andPoland had 14,600 vehicles, accounting for 9%. In total, the three countries exported more than 105,000 cars to Ukraine, accounting for nearly 62% of all imports. This also shows that although Ukraine's import sources cover more than 50 countries, the market is still highly concentrated.
